    Touristical informations

The Creuse Valley
This mountain and raging river from the Massif Central covers almost 255 km before joining the Vienne, near Châtellerault. Certain portions have maintained interesting water sites but the dams and the bed that broadens make it very accessible for canoers and kayakers. It crosses the Brenne, a nature zone rich in animal and plant species. The ponds are used by migrating birds. This heritage is managed by a Regional Nature Park and ecomuseums… At the edge of the Brenne, the Animal Park La Haute Touche enables deer to live in semi-liberty.
Early human habitation, guided by the natural wealth of the region and its position as a crossroad, left a great many traces behind. Take a plunge into the past by discovering the prehistoric collections of Grand-Pressigny and the Gallo-Roman site of Argenton-sur-Creuse, the ancient city of Argentomagus.
You’ll also come across a mystical region, by stopping at the romanesque church of Gargilesse or Ruffec abbey…
Descartes is the final stop in the Creuse Valley. This was the birthplace of René Descartes, 16th century philosopher and mathematician. A museum in his birthhouse illustrate his life.

>> TOPOGUIDE "RANDONIEVRE" ON THE LOIRE
    Touristical informations

The Loire Valley
“The Loire is a queen and kings loved her.”
Going down the Loire is always a exceptional experience for a canoer-kayaker.
Everything contributes to the success of the excursion : imposing landscapes, preserved nature, rich heritage nearby. Nature lovers, like art and history buffs will be fully gratified. In November 2000 Val de Loire was listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage for its cultural landscapes, which constitutes recognition of the area’s rich heritage.
For the canoer, this title is especially illustrated when, flush with the water, the navigator has to choose his way between the sandbanks and play with the currents ; or when he discovers wild and original animals and flora at the tip of an island.
Entirely navigable by canoe, the Loire lets you make a great many stops during your excursion.
